Validation: the importance of compliments

After watching the short film Validation, read the article "The Incredible Power of a Compliment."

1. Consider the importance of compliments and evaluate both sides of the argument: compliments are a good idea vs. compliments are a bad idea. To help you with this task, create a HELPS chart. You should fill in a total of SIX boxes. Make sure that at least two boxes appear on each side (so in other words, you might have 3 and 3, or 2 and 4, but NOT 1 and 5).

2. When you have completed the HELPS chart, choose either sentence template and write an opening sentence to a hypothetical argument about compliments.
