After reading pages 68-77 in Dandelion Wine, watch this riveting video about how to properly use apostrophes: Plural and Possessive Nouns
Write one paragraph (exactly SEVEN sentences) in response to the following question: Mrs. Bentley is a dynamic character in Ray Bradbury's book, Dandelion Wine. How does she change from the start of the chapter to the end? Use one quote from the text to support your answer.
This will be due by the end of class on Wednesday. It is worth 35 points. The rubric for this particular assignment can be found below. READ IT CAREFULLY!
Apostrophes = 15 points.
You must incorporate three possessive nouns and circle the apostrophes in each. If you don't circle the apostrophes, you will receive 0/15 points for this section. If even one of the apostrophes is misplaced, you will receive 0/15 points for this section. If you neglect to use three possessive nouns with apostrophes, you will receive 0/15 points for this section.
Restatement of the question = 10 points.
You must restate the question, providing both the book title and the author's name, and then underline the entire thing. If you don't underline the entire restatement of the question, you will receive 0/10 points for this section. If you neglect to include the author's name or the book title, you will receive 0/10 points for this section.
Numbering sentences = 5 points.
Above each piece of end punctuation (e.g., period, punctuation mark, etc.), you must place a number that coincides with that particular sentence. The first piece of end punctuation in your paragraph should have a 1 written above it; the last piece of end punctuation in your paragraph should have a 7 written above it. If you do not number the sentences, you will receive 0/5 points for this section.
Incorporating a quote = 5 points.
You must include one quote in your response. When incorporating this quote, you should include which character is speaking it aloud. If no one is speaking the quote aloud, then you must explain that Ray Bradbury wrote it in his chapter. If no explanation is given regarding who is responsible for the quote, then you will receive 0/5 points for this section.
If you write in complete sentences and meet all of the above requirements, even if you have other mistakes, then you will still end up earning a 35/35 on this assignment. Such an outstanding score could do wonders for your grade, so I strongly encourage you to read and then reread that rubric to be certain that you're meeting all of the requirements.
