I'm going to bet that you're not especially passionate about commas. However, it may surprise you to learn that some people are. Have you heard of the Oxford comma? Even if you haven't, I'm sure that you know what it is. For this assignment, I'm going to ask that you read two separate articles and a slew of opinionated comments that people have voiced regarding the Oxford Comma.
Here's the first article: "The Oxford Comma Controversy"
And here's the second article: "What is the Oxford comma and why do people care so much about it?" It's at the bottom of this article that you'll find all of the comments that people have posted regarding the Oxford comma. Go ahead and skim some of them.
After reading both articles and exploring the comments on Grammarly.com, I'd like you to use evidence from both websites (this means that you'll need in-text citations and a works cited page!) to voice YOUR opinion (at least two complete paragraphs) of the Oxford comma.
This will be due on Monday. Please have a minimum of two editors look over your work. I will be using the Standard English Rubric to score this assignment.
